Job Overview

The Materials Planner is responsible for planning and scheduling the delivery of materials from suppliers. This tactical position involves monitoring buy item flows to ensure component availability, preventing shortages and production downtime.

Key Responsibilities

  • Procurement of production/inventory/MRO items in a timely manner
  • Receiving and analyzing requisitions to determine quantity, specifications, and delivery requirements
  • Supplier selection and recommendation to fulfill scheduled plant deliveries
  • Maintaining optimal inventory levels and safety stock
  • Coordinating with Quality Assurance to resolve quality issues with suppliers
  • Proactive shortage identification and management
  • Analyzing and selecting parts for KanBan and Supplier replenishment
  • Leading team members to accomplish desired organizational objectives

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree or 5+ years of planner/buyer manufacturing experience
  • APICS (CPIM) or equivalent certification preferred
  • Considerable knowledge of industry-related supply base
