Job Title: Preservation Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled preservation specialist to join our team in the preservation and conservation department. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out and documenting conservation treatment, developing and prioritizing the conservation workflow of the project in collaboration with the chief conservator and conservation project manager.

About the Role:
  • Carry out and document conservation treatment on a selection of manuscripts from the library's Arab and Islamic Manuscripts Collection.
  • Develop and prioritize the conservation workflow of the project in collaboration with the chief conservator and conservation project manager.
  • Work closely with the associated subject specialist and photographer to ensure high-quality results.
  • Report on project milestones and contribute to the development of the project.
Key Skills and Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, you will need to have the following skills and qualifications:

  • A degree in a relevant field such as conservation or restoration.
  • Proven experience in conservation and preservation of manuscripts.
  • Excellent communication and project management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
