Job Overview

The Business Insights team collaborates with various departments across the company to provide actionable insights and drive business performance. We transform and model data for robust analysis, understanding customer behavior, and executing ad hoc analysis to inform C-suite decision-making.

Description: The Business Insights team works closely with the Finance Team, including Financial reporting, FP&A, revenue protection, and billing. You will write SQL scripts on existing tables to facilitate data reconciliations, build dedicated SQL tables and views, identify and remedy data quality issues, and transition from data transformation in Excel and Power BI into the SQL data warehouse.

Role Purpose: In this role, you will work with the Finance Team to scope, execute, and disseminate ad hoc analysis, guiding junior analysts with exploration and analysis of data and communication of findings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure financial analysis is based on accurate and consistent data and definitions.
  • Drive data modeling where appropriate.
  • Be the primary point of contact for Finance & Revenue Teams for their data and analytical needs.
  • Develop and maintain documentation for all key metrics, processes, calculations, and limitations.
  • Deliver aggregated reporting with drill-down options to ensure a single source of truth.
  • Scope, prioritize, and manage your own projects to deliver timely, high-quality results.
  • Identify data quality issues and implement or propose solutions with a business case.
  • Continuously improve analysis and reporting with scalable solutions.
  • Develop excellent working relationships across the organization.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Highly analytical with excellent problem-solving abilities and a strong focus on accuracy.
  • Advanced knowledge of SQL and at least one data visualization tool (e.g., Power BI).
  • Experience with billing systems and analyzing financial data.
  • Comfortable manipulating and analyzing complex data from varying sources.
  • Excellent communication skills; ability to explain complex concepts to various audiences.
  • Capacity to juggle multiple projects and set realistic timelines based on business priorities.
  • Typically 5+ years of experience with data in an analytical role.
  • Experience in the energy sector, telecoms, or utilities is advantageous but not essential.
