Job Overview

We are currently recruiting for an Environmental Health and Safety Specialist to join our team. This full-time permanent role would be ideally suited to an individual with a construction or trade background as this role will consist of both site visits along with office-based duties.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work with a reputable Irish owned Facilities Management company that operates in multiple sectors including Pharmaceutical and Life Sciences, Healthcare, Manufacturing, Education, Corporate, Government, Public Buildings, and Retail.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop their skills and expertise in ensuring the highest standards of health, safety, and environmental management across various sites.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive guidelines, processes, and documentation to ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental legislation.
  • Conduct thorough audits and inspections to verify adherence to contractual obligations, regulatory requirements, and EHS standards.
  • Monitor compliance among specialist subcontractors, agency personnel, and direct employees to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Lead and coordinate comprehensive accident investigations, utilising root cause analysis techniques to identify underlying causes of accidents and near-misses.
  • Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to develop and implement effective corrective and preventive measures to mitigate risk of future incidents.

Requirements

  • Degree qualified in an EHS discipline.
  • Knowledge of Electrical, Mechanical, and Construction industry essential.
  • 5 years' experience in a fast-paced commercial environment.
  • Possess an Internal Auditing accreditation to include Integrated Management Systems (ISO14000 and ISO 45001).
  • In-depth knowledge of Irish Health & Safety and Environmental legislation and regulations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office with ability to generate detailed reports.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with fluent English.
