Job Title: Senior Technical Inspector

This key role is situated within the Energy Safety Division of a regulatory body. The incumbent will oversee and co-oversight of safety analysts/administrative officers, working collaboratively with other inspectors/specialists, managers, safety analysts, administrative officers, and external technical consultants in discharging their duties.


Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Developing assurance programs to ensure compliance with safety frameworks;
  2. Carrying out inspections and audits on natural gas and LPG networks, as well as Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) installations;
  3. Investigating incidents and recommending improvements to regulatory frameworks;
  4. Making judgements on operator compliance with safety frameworks;
  5. Recommending enforcement action and managing follow-up actions;
  6. Providing coaching, mentoring, skills transfer, and development support to direct reports;
  7. Carrying out annual appraisals for direct reports through a formal appraisal process;
  8. Contributing to policy/guideline/procedure development as required;
  9. Liaising with national and international bodies as necessary, including other regulatory agencies;
  10. Participating in technical committees under a national standards authority;
  11. Supporting the delivery of strategic objectives;
  12. Peer reviewing documents as requested;
  13. Providing advice and support on regulatory or technical issues to the commission, senior management team, and wider organization;
  14. Carrying out additional tasks as required to support the energy safety division and fulfill business objectives.
