The role involves full-time shift work, including weekends and bank holidays. Key duties include:
- Responding to and resolving technical tickets in line with client KPIs and SLAs.
- Installing, maintaining, and certifying optical infrastructure, including servers, fibre patching, and network hardware.
- Monitoring system performance and responding swiftly to outages or faults.
- Operating and isolating electrical, cooling, fire, and sprinkler systems (where authorised).
- Supporting day-to-day operations and capacity planning with engineering and IT teams.
- Providing shift cover for colleagues during leave or absence.
- Completing detailed condition assessments, incident reports, and maintenance documentation.
- Ensuring strict adherence to health & safety and quality procedures.
- Overseeing third-party contractor performance and addressing follow-up actions.
- Maintaining accurate infrastructure mapping and site documentation.
Requirements for Success:
- Recognised trade qualification.
- Ideally 2+ years' experience as a Data Centre Technician or Electrician.
- Background in mission-critical environments (UPS, BMS, chillers, gensets, electrical testing).
- Strong fibre testing and certification skills, plus experience with optical hardware installs.
- Excellent awareness of health & safety in a maintenance environment.
- Clear and professional communication, both written and verbal.
- Solid documentation and reporting abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Calm, collaborative, and highly responsive in a fast-paced setting.
