Lead Systems Design EngineerOverview

A key professional in our team, the Lead Controls Systems Engineer will lead and design building automation projects from concept to completion. This role involves overseeing a project team, providing technical guidance, and identifying tasks to be assigned within the project team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Team Leadership & Sales Support (20%): Provide technical direction for a project team of 2-5 engineers, identify and assign tasks within the project team, lead customer meetings, and assist with proposal generation by estimating hardware costs and engineering effort required for a project.
  • Instrumentation & Electrical Design (30%): Create instrument lists by examining P&ID drawings, research instrumentation, and select devices appropriate for the project, procure project hardware, and provide technical support for panel fabrication technicians.
  • System Design and Configuration (30%): Configure user interface and HMI screens, configure DDC, PLC, and/or DCS control algorithms, execute internal functional and quality control testing, draft system documentation, and assist in customer demonstrations and acceptance testing.
  • Onsite System Startup (20%): Install project software and configuration onto site systems, participate in point-to-point loop checks for all instrumentation, perform software calibration and tuning, conduct functional tests of all systems, troubleshoot installation discrepancies, and support additional customer testing.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in a technical field or related Technical Degree, 3+ years of experience in a related field/industry, and controls experience in at least one of the following: Rockwell, Aveva System Platform, Inductive Ignition Perspective, Distech, Johnson Controls, Tridium, SQL, scripting languages, Kepware OPC server, ThinManager, VMware, and HVAC experience/knowledge.
