Job Title: Financial Controller

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Financial Controller to join our team. As a senior leadership position, this role will contribute significantly to the financial health and governance of our organisation.

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering monthly management accounts and financial reports to senior stakeholders, as well as leading the annual budgeting process in collaboration with the Director of Operations.

  • Deliver monthly management accounts and financial reports to the CEO, Director of Operations, and Board of Directors.
  • Lead the annual budgeting process in collaboration with the Director of Operations.
  • E nsure all financial practices and reports align with regulatory standards and best practices.
Responsibilities

The Financial Controller will be responsible for:

  1. Delivering monthly management accounts and financial reports to senior stakeholders.
  2. Leading the annual budgeting process in collaboration with the Director of Operations.
  3. Ensuring all financial practices and reports align with regulatory standards and best practices.
  4. Administering monthly payroll, ensuring full legal compliance.
  5. Preparing and submitting PAYE and other employer returns to Revenue on time.
  6. Coordinating the annual statutory audit and liaising with external auditors.
  7. Maintaining the organisation's risk register and presenting updates to the Board.
  8. Managing filings with CRO, CRA, and RBO.
  9. Promoting high governance standards through transparent financial reporting.
  10. Developing and reviewing internal financial and governance policies regularly.
  11. Working with external advisors to ensure policies remain current.
  12. Overseeing insurance renewals and coverage needs.
  13. Managing financial aspects of grant applications and reporting, ensuring compliance.
  14. Supporting project leads in grant-related spending monitoring.
  15. Participating in Board meetings, Finance & Audit Committee sessions, and strategic planning.
  16. Contributing to organisational growth and strategic initiatives.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A recognised professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CPA, CIMA).
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a senior finance role within the not-for-profit or charity sector.
  • Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and decision-making skills.
  • Leadership skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Proficiency in accounting and payroll software, with advanced Excel skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, including report writing and presenting to senior stakeholders.
