Adventure Department Leadership

Are you a visionary leader with experience in outdoor activities? Do you possess the ability to develop and implement strategies that ensure the safe and successful operation of an adventure department?

Job Description:
  • Develop, implement, and manage systems and strategies for the safe and successful operation of the Adventure Department.
  • Manage, recruit, train, and monitor the Adventure team, ensuring their content delivery and development meet the highest standards.
  • Provide instruction in specialist areas relevant to the activities offered, maintaining up-to-date qualifications and skills.
  • Support affiliated adventure opportunities or projects, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and standards.
  • Plan and deliver programs of outdoor activities for guests, ensuring adherence to safety protocols.
  • Assess risk and take appropriate action to address any issues.
  • Purchase, maintain, and prepare activity equipment, managing the department's finances, including projections and invoicing.
  • Maintain accurate records for incident and safety audits, maintenance logs, and Adventure team records/training and PPE safety logs.
Requirements:
  • Qualifications and experience in various outdoor activities, including at least two full and relevant instructorships.
  • Up-to-date First Aid qualification.
  • Previous management role in a similar business or industry.
  • Desirable: 3rd level Qualification in a related subject, such as business management, outdoor education, leadership, recreation, or sports-related course.

  • Decision-making skills and ability to remain calm in challenging situations.
  • Planning and organisational skills, with an imaginative and innovative approach to work.
