The role of Supply Chain Customs and Compliance Manager is a critical position that requires an individual with exceptional leadership skills to oversee various aspects of the supply chain function. This includes master data governance, trade compliance, SKU portfolio optimisation, and performance reporting.
This strategic leader must ensure the integrity and agility of the supply chain in support of commercial and operational goals. To achieve this, they will be responsible for establishing and managing the customs and trade function, overseeing relationships with customs brokers and regulatory bodies, and ensuring compliance with relevant customs codes and trade agreements.
A strong understanding of legislative and regulatory changes is essential for this role. The Strategic Customs and Trade Manager must stay updated on these changes and coordinate with customs brokers and internal teams to resolve any compliance issues that may arise.
Maintaining accurate records for audits and regulatory reporting is also a crucial aspect of this role. This will involve ensuring that all necessary documents and information are readily available and up-to-date.
In addition to these responsibilities, the Strategic Customs and Trade Manager will be required to lead master data governance across product, supplier, and trade fields. This will involve developing internal controls and validation checks to ensure data quality and driving SKU rationalisation efforts to optimise the supply chain.
This role will also involve partnering with various departments to evaluate and remove obsolete SKUs and ensure supply chain readiness for new product introductions and discontinuations. Finally, the Strategic Customs and Trade Manager will be responsible for developing dashboards and reports covering customs performance and trade risk exposure.
- Certification in customs compliance or international trade is highly desirable.
- Professional accreditation in supply chain or operations is also highly valued.
