About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Senior Hydrologist to join our team in Belfast. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering water resource management, hydrological and hydraulic modelling, drainage and flood mitigation, and climate impact assessment projects.

The ideal candidate will have significant technical experience in areas such as flood risk assessments, hydraulic modelling, sustainable drainage systems, and hydrological modelling. A degree in environmental science, civil engineering, or a related discipline with a strong hydrology or hydraulics focus is required. Additionally, several years of experience in hydrology, flood risk and/or drainage, preferably in a consultancy background, is essential.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver water resource management, hydrological and hydraulic modelling, drainage and flood mitigation, and climate impact assessment projects.
  • Manage projects and maintain client relationships.
  • Assist with winning work and developing new business within the water environment team.
  • Provide technical guidance, support, and training to junior colleagues.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in environmental science, civil engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Significant technical experience in flood risk assessments, hydraulic modelling, sustainable drainage systems, and hydrological modelling.
  • Several years of experience in hydrology, flood risk and/or drainage, preferably in a consultancy background.
  • Chartered (or near Chartership) with an appropriate professional body.
  • Experience in project management, client relationship management, and business development.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Masters degree in environmental science, civil engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Experience in working with hydrometric data, analysis of gauging station flow and level records, interpretation and development of ratings curves for gauging stations.
  • Calibration of rainfall-runoff models to match observed rainfall data to gauged flow data.
  • Low flow studies/droughts assessments.
  • Environmental Impact Assessments water resources and quality, drainage, flood risk, Water Framework Directive assessments.
