We are seeking an experienced Health and Safety Manager to join our team. This key role will involve leading our growing Health and Safety team in supporting the delivery of projects and programmes of work.

  • The successful candidate will assist the Senior Health and Safety Manager in leading the Health and Safety team.
  • A critical aspect of this role is ensuring all health and safety documentation is up-to-date and maintained.
  • It will be essential to revise and update health and safety procedures as required, taking into consideration industry best practices and legislative requirements.
  • The Health and Safety Manager will evaluate health and safety training needs and ensure appropriate courses are available for staff development.
  • Another important responsibility is reviewing the effectiveness of the safety statement annually and making necessary modifications.
  • Maintaining health and safety records for company activities will be a crucial part of this role.
  • The incumbent will coordinate health and safety activities in relation to legislative requirements, including the Safety Health and Welfare at Work (Construction) Regulations 2013.
  • Organizing safety committees as part of the company consultation process will also be a key responsibility.
  • Additionally, the Health and Safety Manager will facilitate the appointment of fire marshals, first aiders, safety reps, DSE assessors, and ensure they receive adequate training.
  • Maintaining information sources on health and safety topics for employee/employer consultation will be an ongoing task.
  • The successful candidate will investigate accidents/near misses when required.
  • Conducting periodic inspections of company locations will also be an essential part of this role.
  • Reporting to the Board of Directors will be a critical aspect of this position.
  • Attending or participating in design review meetings considering client specifications, contractual obligations, and statutory requirements under the Construction Regulations will also be required.
  • Mentoring and developing staff will be an important aspect of this role.
  • The Health and Safety Manager will perform duties as PSDP (Project Supervisor Design Process) and act as Health & Safety Coordinator for the Design Process.
  • Managing PSDP projects including client management, coordination, and completion within scope will be another key responsibility.
  • The successful candidate will provide guidance on legislative compliance and industry best practice.
  • Offering technical support and leadership to clients and designers will also be an essential part of this role.
  • Managing occupational health and safety requirements for a large engineering consultancy firm will require strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Continuously developing skills and staying updated with latest technologies, best practices, and innovations in the health and safety sector for infrastructure design and delivery will be an ongoing requirement.
