Lead Engineering Specialist

We are seeking a Lead Engineering Specialist to join our team. As a senior engineering professional, you will be responsible for leading and managing engineering design projects, developing strong relationships with clients, and providing technical guidance and support to the existing infrastructure team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and lead transport infrastructure design projects, ensuring timely delivery and control over project budgets.
  • Supervise staff in the preparation of outline, preliminary, and detailed design projects, providing guidance and technical support as needed.
  • Support the team in the preparation of contract documents, tendering processes, and construction phases of projects.
  • Ensure all work produced is technically accurate and delivered in accordance with relevant standards.
  • Manage the production of scheme deliverables, including reports and presentations.
  • Review and analyze technical documents, assist in the preparation of expressions of interest and tenders, and ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental legislation.
  • Liaise with other Sector Directors to identify and secure business opportunities.
  • Collaborate with the resource manager to plan and manage your work and the work of staff to meet project needs.
  • Prepare fee proposals for agreement with clients, provide guidance on cost estimates and project budgets, and offer on-site client support during the construction phase.
Requirements
  • A relevant degree qualification and substantial experience working in a design consultancy environment.
  • Chartered Engineer status or actively working towards Chartered Engineer status.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to form lasting relationships with clients and professional partners.
  • A successful track record in project management, including experience in highway design, drainage, and infrastructure projects.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of industry-leading design software, highway design standards, and best practices in designing streets, public transport, and active travel schemes.
  • A full, clean driving license and willingness to attend site meetings.
