Job Overview

The Head of Planning and Development will lead the planning and consenting strategy for onshore/offshore wind, solar PV, battery storage, and green hydrogen projects. This role involves overseeing a multidisciplinary team delivering projects from site selection to statutory consent across Ireland and beyond.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement planning/consenting strategies for project development pipelines.
  • Advise senior leadership teams and engage with regulatory bodies.
  • Manage planning applications, consents, and risk assessments.
  • Lead large-scale infrastructure projects through design, environmental impact assessments, and consenting.
  • Foster strong relationships with statutory bodies, local communities, and NGOs.
  • Lead, mentor, and grow high-performing planning and environmental teams.

About You

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in renewable energy project development.
  • Demonstrated track record in planning, consenting, and environmental impact assessments for large-scale projects in Ireland.
  • Expert knowledge of Irish/EU planning law, environmental regulations, and licensing requirements.
  • Excellent project management, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Organized, solution-focused, and able to lead in dynamic, high-stakes environments.
  • Professional certifications (IPI, RTPI, IEMA) an asset.
