Project Director - Seabird Conservation

We seek an experienced Project Director to lead a pivotal programme embedding biosecurity measures and promoting seabird recovery in Northern Ireland, with best practice shared across Ireland.

About the Role

You will oversee the delivery of conservation interventions on Rathlin Island, safeguarding its internationally significant seabird colonies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead a dedicated team, delivering biosecurity services, tern monitoring and community engagement.
  • Coordinate cross-sector collaboration, working closely with partners, public agencies, researchers and local communities to achieve shared conservation goals.
  • Develop the first All-Ireland Tern Action Plan, outlining a roadmap for long-term protection and recovery of tern species through evidence-based management and policy recommendations.
  • Integrate biosecurity and restoration best practices into wider marine conservation policy and planning frameworks.
