Site Manager Role

A site manager is a pivotal figure in residential construction, overseeing the delivery of exceptional homes. Key responsibilities include ensuring health and safety on site, controlling plant equipment, and promoting a strong safety culture.

The role involves:

  • Overseeing Health & Safety on site to ensure collective ownership by all stakeholders
  • Managing plant on site to ensure equipment is fit for purpose with necessary certification
  • Promoting a strong safety culture and proactively resolving potential threats
  • Selecting and appointing site supervisory roles specific to the project
  • Communicating the Project Execution Plan and updates to all stakeholders
  • Managing subcontractors and suppliers
  • Reviewing design documents and participating in design team meetings
  • Leading the construction team, delegating responsibilities, and ensuring coordination of works
  • Developing short-term programmes and reporting weekly progress against target programme
  • Ensuring all works comply with Building Regulations, design specifications, and applicable standards
  • Managing direct reports on site, including performance management, development plans, and absence management

Candidate Requirements:

  • Degree/Higher Diploma in Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or equivalent
  • Minimum 8 years post-qualification experience in large-scale residential construction
  • Excellent knowledge of current building regulations and certification standards
