Portering Services Manager Role

The Portering Services Manager will oversee the day-to-day operations of the portering department, ensuring that all staff are deployed and rostered effectively.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Rostering and deployment of staff to meet service requirements
  • Allocation of duties and supervision of staff members to guarantee exceptional customer care
  • Recruitment of temporary and permanent staff to maintain an efficient workforce
  • Documentation and record-keeping to ensure compliance with regulations
  • Development and maintenance of procedures, systems, and records including IT for the department
  • Effective monitoring and control of costs, including personnel and equipment expenses
  • Ensuring effective communication among staff and organizing staff meetings
  • Coordination with Health and Safety Coordinator to guarantee compliance with health and safety legislation
  • Staff training requirements and devising a database to maintain training records

Key Qualifications and Experience:

  • A minimum of two years' experience in a similar role at a comparable level
  • Possession of sufficient administrative capacity to discharge the functions of the grade
  • Good character and fitness to hold the office
  • Age 18 years or over and under 65 on the commencement date

Working Conditions:

  • 35 hours per week, permanent appointment on the Grade VI salary scale
  • Full-time, permanent appointment with one month's notice and a probation period of one year
