Senior Business Operations Manager

Job Summary:

  • Responsible for driving performance improvement through self and others.
  • Leads the achievement and sustainment of performance excellence, primarily through lean and six sigma methodologies.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Support leaders across the business to have confidence and control in their performance by deploying the DMS system, preparing an annual DMS improvement plan, challenging the status quo, partnering with flow team leaders, and implementing lean solutions.
  2. Support leaders across the business to fix problems by owning and managing the BioMarin root cause analysis program, providing regular training, identifying gaps, and implementing plans to close capability gaps.
  3. Lead value realization initiatives for the business to embed value and robust cost management across the SQDEC by co-leading the value realization program, coaching peers on financial metrics, and partnering with the business lead to tackle waste opportunities.
  4. Support the business to accelerate the site strategic improvement journey by deploying solutions to key business processes, coaching lean and reengineering projects, and participating in flow teams.

Requirements:

  • Planning/organization: excellent planning and prioritization skills with the ability to multitask and adapt.
  • Analytical problem-solving: ability to identify problems, define problem statement clearly and accurately, and apply structured and disciplined methodology to identify data-driven root causes.

Education and Experience:

  • Science, engineering, or business background preferred but not essential.
  • Formal lean, reengineering, and/or six sigma training preferred but not essential.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in industry.
  • Sound knowledge of cGMPs and equivalent industry regulations.
  • Experience in systems thinking.
  • Knowledge and previous work experience with process mapping, lean six sigma, and business process reengineering would be preferable.
  • Knowledge of performance measurement tools and metrics.
