Research Associate

The Empowering a Mentally Healthy Generation (EmpowerME) project is an innovative, evidence-based initiative aimed at addressing the rising mental health challenges among children in Malta and enhancing their overall well-being. This collaborative effort involves key stakeholders from various sectors, including government ministries and University College Cork as the academic partner. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on this groundbreaking project, contributing to the design and delivery of training programs for diverse audiences.

The role involves working under the direction of the Principal Investigator/Project Leader to provide assistance in conducting research activities, including planning, organizing, conducting, and communicating research studies within the scope of a research project. Key duties include coordinating and performing independent and team activities involved in data collection, analysis, documentation, and interpretation, as well as preparing technical reports and presentations. The ideal candidate will have experience working with children in structured settings, such as schools or clinical environments, and possess knowledge of child safeguarding and protection principles.

To be successful in this position, applicants should have a minimum 2.1 degree in a relevant field, such as nursing, psychology, public health, or social policy. Additionally, the ability to travel to Malta for data collection is essential. Experience working on cross-cultural teams and possessing good analytical skills, computer proficiency, and presentation abilities are also highly desirable. As part of the selection process, candidates will undergo Garda vetting and international police clearance checks.
