Medical Scientist Specialist

About the Role:
This permanent, full-time position is for a specialist medical scientist in microbiology at a leading hospital with a focus on surveillance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with laboratory information systems to extract and categorize antimicrobial resistance data.
- Develop and maintain databases for the surveillance of resistant organisms.
- Contribute to early recognition and management of outbreaks and infections within the hospital and community.
- Participate in local and national initiatives related to healthcare-associated infections.
- Assist in the notification of diseases to public health departments using CIDR and non-CIDR methodologies.
- Facilitate data extraction for Freedom of Information requests and patient inquiries.
- Engage in molecular research and development projects relevant to the hospital and community.
Requirements:
- Excellent interpersonal skills with awareness of patient and user needs.
- Strong IT skills, particularly with Performance Planning and Development Systems (PPDS).
