Biometric Manager Position

This is a promotional examination for the position of Biometric Manager. The incumbent will be responsible for supervising and managing the daily operations of the unit, including planning, organizing, supervising, and directing programs related to fingerprint identification.

  • Plan, organize, supervise, and direct the programs of the Sheriff's Office.
  • Assist oversight for functions and responsibilities of the unit's daily operations.
  • Supervise and manage the staff of the Identification Unit and work with other departments and agencies related to public safety and law enforcement.

The ideal candidate will have experience in supervision and management, knowledge of fingerprint identification techniques, and the ability to communicate effectively.

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in criminal justice, business administration, public administration, or a closely related field.
  • Three years of full-time experience in the classification of Identification Supervisor in the classified service, or four years of full-time experience equivalent to Identification Supervisor performing advanced journey-level identification work.

Desirable Skills

  • Possession of a valid Class C driver's license.
  • Participation in the International Association of Identification.

Key Competencies

  • Principles and techniques of supervision related to the direction, control, evaluation, and training of subordinates.
  • Principles and practices of fingerprint identification for both manual and automated fingerprint classification identification.
  • Criminal justice and identification computer systems and programs.

Selection Process

The selection process will consist of a review of applications, followed by an oral interview. Applicants must attain a qualifying rating on each portion of the examination.
