We are seeking an expert to support a consortium in the implementation of a European Union-funded project. The goal is to conduct a study on the economic opportunities and challenges facing the Karlovy Vary region, with a focus on transitioning to a green economy and energy system.
The successful candidate will have extensive experience in regional industrial policy and clean technology deployment, as well as expertise in regional innovation ecosystems, Smart Specialisation Strategies, and clean tech scale-up. They should also have a proven track record in designing and implementing regional transformation strategies. Additionally, they should be able to work effectively with public institutions, industry associations, and international donors. Fluency in English is required, and Czech language skills would be an asset. Experience working in Czechia or internationally is also desirable.
Key areas of responsibility: Conducting a thorough analysis of the region's economic landscape, identifying opportunities for growth and development, and developing strategic recommendations for stakeholders. Working closely with the project team to ensure effective implementation of the project plan. Collaborating with local stakeholders, including government agencies, businesses, and community groups, to build partnerships and leverage resources. Ensuring that all project activities are aligned with EU cohesion policy and other relevant frameworks.
Required qualifications and skills:

  • At least a bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Environmental Engineering; Industrial Economics or Innovation Management; Environmental or Energy Policy.
  • 10+ years of experience in regional industrial policy or clean technology deployment.
  • 8+ years of experience in at least two of the following areas: Regional innovation ecosystems; Smart Specialisation Strategies; Clean tech scale-up and industrial symbiosis.
  • Proven track record in designing and implementing regional transformation strategies.
  • Experience working with public institutions, industry associations, and international donors.
