Clerical Officer

Job Description:

We are seeking a Temporary Clerical Officer in Kilkenny. The successful candidate will have experience in reception duties, as well as general administrative tasks.

This is a Full-Time role with 35 hours per week, varying from 9-5 and also including 24/7 shift work (including weekends and evening). It is a Temporary Month to Month contract.

The pay scale for this position is €16.87- €26.25 depending on previous relative public sector experience.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Directing calls and taking messages
  2. Greeting and assisting visitors at the reception area
  3. Handling general administrative duties such as filing, photocopying, and data entry
  4. Managing and distributing incoming and outgoing mail
  5. Maintaining office supplies and equipment
  6. Supporting other staff with clerical tasks as needed
  7. Handle check-ins, discharges, and ensure accurate documentation
  8. Update and maintain electronic health records (EHR) with strict confidentiality
  9. Serve as a main contact for calls and information relay between clinical staff and families
  10. Provide essential documentation and coordination support during critical incidents
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Previous experience in switchboard and reception duties or admin in Healthcare sector
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
