Job Overview

We are seeking a seasoned legal expert to lead our procurement processes.

The ideal candidate will work closely with the in-house legal team to manage supply chain contracts and procure goods and services through various agreements. A working knowledge of procurement legislation and strong commercial contract law experience are essential for this role.

  • Provide strategic legal advice on supply chain contracts and procurement matters, including construction contracts.
  • Draft, negotiate, review, and update tender documents, standard forms, and bespoke contracts.
  • Manage and support third-party specialists, including external lawyers, to deliver required business outcomes.
  • Identify potential legal risks, develop reporting structures, and conduct reviews as needed.
  • Promote legal awareness and communicate with stakeholders when seeking legal input.
  • Deliver training on areas of interest to the wider organization.
  • Monitor relevant construction, contracts law, and procurement legislative changes and case-law affecting the business.
  • Maintain and enhance professional knowledge through continuous development and training.

The ideal candidate is a qualified Solicitor with circa 5 years post-qualification experience, including at least 2 years in commercial contracts. Knowledge of public procurement procedures and legislation, as well as standard form construction contracts and legislation, is desirable.

Key skills include dealing confidently and professionally with day-to-day issues, handling complex issues with limited supervision, being team-oriented and collegiate, and adopting a commercial perspective rather than a purely 'academic' approach to legal issues.
