Job Overview:

This role offers an opportunity to lead the delivery of Environmental Impact Assessment Reports and Appropriate Assessments for Renewable Energy projects. The successful candidate will provide environmental expertise to support the planning team and inform business strategy, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead EIA processes for large-scale Renewable Energy projects, including delivery of Environmental Impact Assessment Reports and Appropriate Assessments/Natura Impact Statements.
  • Provide environmental expertise to support the planning team and inform business strategy to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in planning and environmental legislation, policy decisions, and updates to national, regional, and local authority development plans to maximize project outcomes.
  • Contribute to company submissions as required.
  • Assist the stakeholder and advocacy team with effective project planning for communication and consultation with local communities and stakeholders.
  • Prepare specifications for third-party services for projects as needed and assist the procurement team in associated procurement processes.
  • Ensure all work complies with Health & Safety and Environmental policies and relevant EU and National policies and statutory requirements.
  • Support the upskilling and mentoring of junior staff in EIA and Appropriate Assessment processes.
Requirements:
  • Honors degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or equivalent; postgraduate qualification in a relevant field desirable but not essential.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience leading EIAR and AA/NIS preparation for large-scale projects essential; reporting to a planning program manager and liaising with management levels across the organization.
  • Expertise in delivering EIS/EIAR and AA/NIS documentation for large-scale development projects essential; managing multidisciplinary teams on EIA projects essential.
  • Understanding of the EIA process and Irish planning policy and legislation in relation to the EIA essential.
  • Experience in renewables and related infrastructure, or SID projects, desirable but not essential. Technical lead in a discipline related to EIA, e.g., ecology, noise, air quality, desirable but not essential.
  • Experience across a range of project types with differing priorities, risk profiles, and timelines desirable but not essential.
