Housing Officer Role

As a Housing Officer, you will play a crucial role in facilitating successful tenancies by providing excellent support to tenants.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing a designated patch of housing and maintaining regular contact with tenants to ensure their needs are met
  • Overseeing rental income and addressing repairs and neighbour nuisance issues promptly
  • Monitoring for potential breaches of tenure and implementing preventive strategies to maintain high-quality services
  • Interviewing prospective new tenants, orientating them into the role and promoting good neighbour policies
  • Ensuring all necessary paperwork is completed and rent collection is monitored effectively
  • Administering collections and providing management support to minimise arrears
  • Implementing Tenant Engagement Strategy and Void Management initiatives
  • Conducting annual inspections and recording maintenance work to ensure properties are well-maintained

Additional responsibilities include preparing budgets, processing applications for housing improvements and repairs, and communicating outcomes to tenants effectively.

The Housing Officer will also be responsible for managing information requirements, producing reports, and referring tenants to Tenancy Support Services when necessary.

A Clean Driving Licence and Relevant Qualification are essential for this role, along with Excellent communication skills, Strong IT and reporting skills, and 1-3 years working with marginalised people.
