Underwriting Portfolio Manager

At AXA XL, we're seeking a seasoned professional to oversee the management of complex insurance portfolios. The ideal candidate will have expertise in underwriting governance and a strong understanding of EU insurance markets.

The successful Underwriting Portfolio Manager will work closely with our UK-based teams to review new and renewal business submissions, ensuring alignment with our company's risk appetite and business plans. They will also be responsible for binding risks on behalf of our European subsidiary based in Dublin.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting adherence to underwriting protocols and processes to ensure smooth production and incoming business management.
  • Assessing new and renewal submissions for alignment with our business plans and risk appetites.
  • Binding risks on behalf of our European subsidiary.
  • Overseeing the portfolio's underwriting performance and aggregate management.
  • Providing regular reports to the XLICSE Underwriting Committee on the incoming portfolio.
  • Collaborating with UK Regional Product Leaders to discuss profit and loss, identify drivers, and understand performance versus plan.
  • Identifying and reporting operational risks/issues and driving corrective action.
  • Maintaining business continuity and delivery.

The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal and influencing skills, with experience in either underwriting or underwriting governance, ideally across multiple underwriting disciplines. They will also possess a good knowledge of different EU insurance markets and the ability to work collaboratively across geographical boundaries.
