Job Title: Housing Support Specialist

The primary objective of this role is to provide tailored support services to individuals who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, with the ultimate goal of securing and sustaining their accommodation.

To achieve this, the successful candidate will be responsible for delivering time-limited tenancy support services that cater to the diverse needs of clients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct comprehensive initial assessments with clients to identify their unique needs and develop a personalized support plan.
  • Provide pre-tenancy training and support to empower clients to transition smoothly into independent living.
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with local authorities, service providers, and landlords to ensure seamless coordination of support services.
  • Liaise with landlords to resolve disputes and provide crucial information regarding the operation of the service.
  • Develop and implement time-sensitive support plans to address specific client needs.
  • Advocate on behalf of clients to guarantee they meet their support plan objectives.
Administrative & Other:
  • Contribute to the growth and development of the Access Housing Unit and Threshold through active participation in regular team meetings.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date record keeping in accordance with Threshold policies.
  • Represent the AHU and Threshold at various external meetings, events, and forums.
  • Undertake duties as assigned by the Assistant Manager and/or Regional Manager.

Ideal Candidate:

  • A minimum of two years' experience in a similar/related role.
  • Possession of a full clean driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Non-judgmental and empathetic approach when interacting with service users.
  • Ability to manage challenging behavior effectively.
  • Willingness to work collaboratively as part of a team and independently.
