About the Role

The Head of Risk Governance is a critical member of the Goodbody Risk Function's Senior Management Team (SMT), reporting directly to the Chief Risk Officer (CRO). This role oversees core components of the firm's Risk Management Lifecycle, including Material Risk Assessment, Risk Appetite setting, and Policy Governance.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement the Risk Management Framework (RMF) and Material Risk Assessment (MRA) for the Goodbody Group.
  • Assist the CRO in developing the annual Risk Function Plan and provide ongoing reporting to Executive and Board level Risk Committees.
  • Coordinate the formulation of the firm's Risk Appetite Statement and ensure its consistency with the firm's risk profile and Strategic plans.
  • Manage the policy governance framework and oversee its implementation, ensuring a formal and consistent approach to risk policy management.
  • Develop emerging risk processes and structures to support the firm's evolving risk landscape.
  • Lead Risk Function SMT meetings to facilitate information sharing and collaboration.
  • Develop and maintain the Risk Charter, promoting a culture of risk awareness and best practices within the organization.
  • Review key strategic decisions and investment papers presented to the Board and Executive Committee, providing risk opinions and recommendations.
  • Liaise with the CRO and other Risk SMT members to produce the CRO report.
  • Oversee risk assurance activities across the three lines of defence, delivering reports to the Board Audit Committee on coverage provided.
  • Manage Second Line of Defence Risk Assurance reviews and execute associated roles and responsibilities.
