Job Title: Cancer Care Professional
Frs Recruitment is seeking an experienced Cancer Care Professional to join our team in Dublin. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality patient care in a fast-paced oncology setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct patient care to assigned patients, including conducting nursing history, summarizing data, and identifying nursing diagnoses and patient care needs.
- Observe and record patient signs, symptoms, behaviors, and physiological status; communicate assessments and propose care revisions.
- Implement individualized care plans for newly admitted patients as per policy, administer nursing interventions consistent with the medical care plan, and handle admission, discharge, and transfer procedures.
- Assist with patient activities and care, execute physician orders, safely administer medications and treatments, and notify nursing and medical staff of any changes in patient status.
- Independently assume responsibility for assigned patient care, perform specialty service techniques and routines, maintain aseptic techniques, isolation procedures, and infection control measures.
Clinical Responsibilities:
Ensure individual patient assessments, care plans, and evaluations are in place, involve patients' families and significant others as appropriate, and provide care in optimal clinical environments following all nursing and hospital policies.
Participate in and supervise patient meals and dietary needs, adhere to visiting time policies, delegate tasks appropriately based on skill level and knowledge, and record documentation professionally, legibly, and promptly.
Managerial Responsibilities:
Identify and communicate issues to the Nurse Manager promptly, demonstrate confidence and competence in hospital policies and guidelines, efficiently record necessary documentation, manage complaints effectively, monitor risk management processes, and maintain effective interdisciplinary communication.
Deputize for the Nurse Manager as needed, engage in ward and hospital nursing communication, and participate in performance reviews with the Nurse Manager.
Personal and Professional Responsibilities:
Maintain a professional portfolio, utilize opportunities to educate patients and their families, attend relevant study days and courses, act as a preceptor or supervisor to students and new staff, and participate in performance reviews with the Nurse Manager.
Educational Responsibilities:
Enhance learning opportunities in the clinical area, participate in the clinical induction of new nursing and support staff, take responsibility for personal learning and development needs, and ensure adherence to The Professional Scope of Practice Framework 2000 (Nursing & Midwife Board of Ireland).
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Registered General Nurse license in good standing with the Nursing & Midwife Board of Ireland (NMBI)
- Preferably 1 year of post-nursing registration experience, preferably in oncology
- Able to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and demonstrate motivation and innovation
- Effective communication, presenting information clearly and concisely, and understanding change management
- Evidence of effective planning, organizing, and time management skills; flexibility in rotations, rostering, and attitude to work
