Project Specialist in Heritage Preservation

We are seeking an experienced project conservator to join our team in the preservation and conservation department.
- Key responsibilities:
- Carry out conservation treatment on a selection of manuscripts from the Arab and Islamic Manuscripts Collection;
- Develop and prioritize the conservation workflow of the project;
- Collaborate with the Chief Conservator, Conservation Project Manager, and the Arab and Islamic Manuscripts project team;
- Document conservation treatment and report on project milestones;
- Work closely with the associated subject specialist and photographer.
The successful candidate will have a proven track record of conservation experience, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. The post-holder will be encouraged to develop their professional career through research and publication.
Required Skills and Qualifications- Postgraduate qualification in book and paper conservation or a related field;
- Proven experience in conservation treatment and documentation;
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills;
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
- Strong organizational and time management skills;
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other software applications relevant to the role.

This appointment is for the specific purpose of carrying out the specialist conservation of agreed material to enable digitization and general support of the project. The activities for this role are funded by an anonymous donor and are not part of the core university funding. Therefore, termination of this contract will occur upon completion of the work in which you are engaged, or if the funding stream is terminated or withdrawn by the funding agency.
