KNOW THE ROLE

You will support the customs trade team to ensure that all transactions are recorded accurately and in a timely manner to maintain compliance with the Business and Revenue requirement. In this position you will have both an operational and customs background with overall responsibility for all aspects of customs and trade compliance across Brown Thomas Arnotts. You will be responsible for managing all customs and excise declarations and payments including issuing weekly reports to the business, resolving queries or escalating to other members within the business.

Clear understanding of Customs and International Trade RegulationsManage customs and excise related payments including posting monthly duty journals and assist with reconciling postponed VAT to ensure accurate financial reportingManage supplier recharge payments alongside Accounts Payable teamStrong risk based approach to manage and mitigate compliance risks.Conduct audits of declarations to ensure accuracy and compliance, including verifying Certificates of Origin.Assist in the classification of BTA imports and exports under customs regulations.Coordinate with clearance agents to ensure smooth operations.In collaboration with internal teams, liaise with suppliers on customs processes and expectationsEnsure compliance with Single Market Regulations.Assist in managing anti-dumping charges.Interact with Irish Revenue and HMRC to resolve compliance issues.Demonstrate strategic thinking to identify and support business opportunities.Participate in project-based work aligned with specific strategies and business initiatives.

KNOW WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Knowledge of International Trade Regulations requiredKnowledge of finance functions desirableFlexible approach to work, adaptable to changing priorities.Excellent administrative and communication skills.High computer literacy, particularly with intermediate-level Excel skills.Ability to work in a fast paced environment and manage multiple tasks efficiently.Experience with handling paperwork & reviewing transactions from multiple sourcesExceptional attention to accuracy & detailAbility to work under tight deadlines without compromising quality.Experience in customs and trade related issues highly desirableExperience in ERP system is desirable
