We are seeking a dynamic, organized and driven EHSS professional to support the stand up of our Environmental, Health, Safety & Sustainability function at our new state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Athenry. Reporting to the Regional EHSS Leader, you will provide support in enabling a high performance and positive Environment, Health, Safety & Sustainability (EHSS) culture. You will provide technical expertise across all functions to ensure a compliant and safe workplace for all employees, visitors, and contractors. You will work closely with the Global EHSS team to ensure alignment to global processes, best practices and site-level implementation.

The Global EHS team is seeking a dynamic, organized and driven Staff EHSS Specialist to support the stand up of our Environmental, Health, Safety & Sustainability function at our new state of the art manufacturing facility in Athenry.

Responsibilities
  • You will improve EHSS workplace performance by promoting a positive safety culture and implementing safety and environmental management systems in accordance with regulations, corporate compliance policies and standards.
  • You will identify and evaluate hazardous conditions and practices in the workplace. You will conduct and coordinate on-site inspections to audit physical conditions and safe work practices.
  • You will assist in the development of controlled documents and training programs to drive a zero-accident culture.
  • You will collaborate with facilities maintenance team on the development of risk assessments for facilities maintenance activities (lone working, confined space entry, work at height, hot works).
  • You will collaborate with facilities maintenance team on the implementation of EHSS programs for site plant & utilities (WWTP, Fire Protection Systems, Electrical Systems).
  • You will lead the development of visitor and contractor management programs including the implementation of permit to work system for safety sensitive activities.
  • You will collaborate with the implementation of a site emergency response plans & site ERT team
  • You will collaborate with the Warehouse team on the implementation of warehouse safety programs relating to powered industrial equipment, chemical management, storage and handling of materials.
  • You will support the site sustainability program in collaboration with facilities & global sustainability teams to drive site zero waste program.
  • You will review, investigate and implement action plans for work-related injuries, illness, accidents and safety concerns.
  • You will maintain thorough knowledge of EHSS regulations, fire and safety codes, and engineering safety standards.
  • You will coordinate and participate in committees and attend meetings related to employee safety, public safety, warehouse floor layouts, fire safety, as well as property loss or damage. Provide expertise on safety risk management, statistics and trends.
  • You will perform other related duties as directed that correspond to the overall function of this position.
What Makes You Successful
  • You have a bachelor's degree in a technical discipline, and a minimum of 8-12 years related experience.
  • You are familiar with health, safety, and regulatory requirements.
  • You have a proven ability to quickly assess situations through demonstrated problem-solving skills and knowledge of state-of-the-art technology related to their EHS discipline.
  • You have demonstrable success in administering EHSS programs.
  • You have experience in a manufacturing environment in the medical device industry or similar industry.
  • You are able to work effectively and efficiently under pressure.
  • Accredited certification strongly preferred (Certified Professional Ergonomist, Certified Safety Professional, Certified Industrial Hygienist).
  • You have strong project management skills in facilitating projects/activities.
