Night Manager

The successful candidate will oversee night operations, ensuring a high standard of guest service, safety, and professionalism. As Night Manager, you will oversee the night team, manage security, and handle front desk responsibilities. The Tower Hotel is Waterford's premier 4-star city centre hotel and is superbly located overlooking the Marina and Reginald's Tower. The hotel is just a 3-minute stroll from the city's shopping and entertainment hot spots, and the premier business district. • Oversee the hotel's operations during the night shift, ensuring smooth running and guest satisfaction.
• Manage and support the night team, including assigning tasks, monitoring performance, and ensuring duties are carried out effectively.
• Provide a professional front desk service, including handling late check-ins and early check-outs.
• Respond promptly and courteously to guest inquiries, requests, and complaints.
• Monitor and maintain security throughout the premises, including regular internal and external patrols.
• Supervise guest access to late functions, ensuring only authorised individuals are admitted.
• Oversee activity in late bars and residents' bars, ensuring responsible alcohol service and a safe, controlled environment.
• Respond to and de-escalate any disturbances, reporting incidents to management or authorities as required.
• Ensure all function rooms and external access points are secured once events have concluded.
• Ensure function/meeting room spaces are prepared per function sheets and day porter handovers.
• Complete nightly audits, balance daily transactions, and prepare shift reports for management.
• Respond to emergencies and follow appropriate protocols in cases of fire alarms, guest incidents, or medical situations.
• Assist with overnight room service, luggage handling, and general guest support.
• Ensure the cleanliness, presentation, and readiness of public areas for the following day.
• Coordinate effectively with day staff during handovers to ensure continuity of operations.

• Reliable, trustworthy, and able to work independently during night shifts.
• Previous experience in hospitality or a customer-facing role (hotel experience preferred).
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a friendly and professional manner.
• Calm under pressure and capable of handling guest issues or emergencies confidently.
• Comfortable supervising a team.
• Basic IT skills and familiarity with hotel systems (training can be provided).
• Available to work overnight shifts, including weekends and public holidays as required.
