HR Officer role at Brothers of Charity Services Ireland – Southern Region.
The Brothers of Charity Services Ireland – Southern Region is a major voluntary organisation, providing age-related residential, educational and day services for people with intellectual disabilities, autism and communication disorders in the Cork and Kerry area.
Responsibilities- Assist the Human Resources Manager and team to provide a professional HR service to staff in the Cork and Kerry Services. Provide administrative support in respect of Human Resources to management and staff within the Services. Advise Managers on best practice in HR-related issues in line with HR policies and procedures, HR reporting, HR administration, day-to-day HR queries and projects/initiatives for the HR Department.
- Contribute to ensuring that the day-to-day operations of the Service reflect the ethos and vision of the Brothers of Charity Services Ireland – Southern Services and that the needs of the individuals supported by the services are met by all staff who support them.
- Must have a relevant HR-related third level professional qualification on the Quality & Qualifications Ireland (QQI) framework and/or membership of CIPD.
- Essential/Desirable Experience: Relevant experience in the public service/healthcare service is highly desirable; exposure to working within multi-unionised settings.
- A minimum of five years' relevant HR experience in a multi-team environment; extensive experience in recruitment, selection and retention; experience of absence management with a proven track record; good leadership, strategic thinking, teamwork, communication, strong ICT and organisational skills.
- Desirable: Supervisory skills, experience advocating for change, creative thinking and initiative, ability to manage an extensive workload and deliver results within defined timelines; full clean driving licence.
- Staff should have a positive attitude towards working with persons with a disability and promote a normal, valued and enjoyable life for each individual in line with their needs and preferences. Staff should treat each person with a disability as an individual and acknowledge and respect rights and personal dignity.
Clerical Admin Grade V (Clerical) - €51,718 rising to €61,866 (1/8/25). Successful candidates are required to submit documentary evidence outlining relevant experience within 3 months of starting date; failure to do so may delay incremental credit.
Benefits- Annual leave of 28 days per annum.
- Brothers of Charity Contributory Superannuation Scheme (linked to the Nominated Health Agencies Superannuation Scheme or Single Public Service Pension Scheme, whichever is applicable) from the date of employment.
The normal working fortnight will be 70 hours on a 5-day roster. Contracted hours of work may change between 8am – 8pm over five days to meet service requirements.
TravelThe appointee must provide their own car and furnish an indemnity from insurers in favour of the employer. Travelling expenses at the appropriate rate will be paid for duty-related travel.
ReportingReporting to the HR Manager or designate as appropriate.
