What You'll DoAs a Senior Human Resources Business Partner, your key responsibility is to develop and execute people strategy with respective business leaders to drive outcomes in employee engagement, workforce planning, talent development, compensation, culture, change management, and alignment with Geotab goals, policies, and initiatives. You will work closely with senior leaders within the functional group as a coach and mentor, and collaborate with leaders to develop and monitor career path plans for employees, including compensation plans and performance goals.
To be successful, you should have diplomacy, negotiation, conflict resolution, and relationship management skills. You should also possess excellent analytical abilities and problem-solving skills to make sound decisions.
How You'll Make An Impact- Accountable for the strategic direction of HR support for designated functional groups, ensuring alignment with the overall organizational strategy.
- Provide consultative HR solutions within designated business groups.
- Develop and execute HR strategies, goals, objectives, and projects to support Geotab growth, people development, and increased engagement and retention.
- Partner with senior leaders as coach and mentor.
- Collaborate to develop and monitor career path plans, including compensation plans and performance goals.
- Support leadership in building a culture of open communication and feedback that cascades through all levels.
- Cultivate positive relationships with leaders and employees to reinforce Geotab culture.
- Advise and coach employees and leadership on HR practices.
- Assess, diagnose, and develop solutions to organizational challenges within designated business groups.
- Provide day-to-day performance management guidance to leadership (coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions).
- Manage and resolve complex employee relations issues with proper investigations and recommended actions.
- Maintain knowledge of applicable laws and employment standards to reduce legal risks and ensure compliance.
- Develop, implement, and administer new HR initiatives; introduce policies and process changes as needed.
- Work with leadership on process improvements, programs, and policies; facilitate changes.
- Serve as a strategic partner in the year-end KP assessment process.
- Collaborate with the HR team and department managers on recruitment needs and fulfillment.
- Gather and analyze HR metrics data.
- Ensure cross-border consistency in handling ER issues where legally allowable and report on performance management trends; conduct thorough investigations when required and provide findings and recommended actions.
- Ensure adherence to Geotab policies on sharing confidential HR/employee information.
- Provide direction, coaching, and mentorship to the team; align other HRBPs/HRGs with the strategy by assigning tasks as needed.
- Support team development through coaching, feedback, and training opportunities.
- Collaborate with employees and leadership during performance management, meeting KPAs and career development planning.
- Support Geotab global strategic initiatives.
- 5-8 years of experience as an HR Business Partner, with several years in a senior capacity, ideally in technology or high-growth sectors.
- Proficiency in English and one or more of the following languages: French, Portuguese, or Italian.
- Post-secondary Diploma/degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Management, or a related field.
- Professional HR certification is an asset.
- Experience with HR policies and procedures; strong knowledge of current HR legislation and employment standards.
- Strong business acumen and the ability to understand the business.
- CHRP or CHRL designation in good standing.
- Solid understanding of employee relations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Diplomacy, including negotiation, conflict resolution, and relationship management skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and adapt to fast-changing priorities and deadlines.
- Strong project management skills and the ability to drive projects to completion.
- Technical competence with software programs, including Google Suite for business (Sheets, Docs, Slides).
