Mechanical Estimator Position

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Estimator to manage and deliver mechanical project tenders and packages from tender request to submission.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in mechanical engineering, electrical trade qualification, and experience in large scale electrical projects.

This office based role involves estimating costs for commercial, industrial, and residential projects, analyzing materials and labour needed to complete these projects, reviewing supplier costs, negotiating best prices, and maintaining cost databases.

Responsibilities include:

  • Identifying and building up cost estimates by analyzing materials and labour required to complete large scale commercial, industrial and residential projects
  • Reviewing residential, industrial and commercial building plans to determine the electrical needs of a project for estimate
  • Reviewing supplier costs to determine individual element costs and negotiating best prices
  • Maintaining cost databases and outlining common costs to save time on future estimates
  • Understanding and interpreting drawings and specifications
  • Meeting tender deadlines and paying close attention to detail for accuracy
  • Solving complex problems in an efficient manner
  • Displaying sound organizational and time management skills
  • Working in a team environment as well as individually
  • Checking multiple data sources
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

Requirements include 3+ years' experience in pricing and estimating mechanical packages, producing high quality tender returns, and reporting directly into directors.

Key Requirements:

  • A minimum of 3 years' experience in a similar position
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work accurately under pressure
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
