Senior Commercial Manager Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Assistant Commercial Manager to support large-scale national infrastructure projects.

This role sits within a multidisciplinary team responsible for managing contracts, cost control, project controls and procurement associated with complex railway projects.

The successful candidate will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to deliver high-quality solutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the project team with commercial tasks including report preparation, contract administration, cost forecasting, subcontract management and budget management.
  • Assist in cost estimate preparation. Input cost and quantity information for report production as required.
  • Identify and mitigate commercial risks throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Support business finance reporting, including cost and revenue forecasting, for profit and loss analysis.
  • Review contractor delivery, including attending progress meetings.
  • Implement risk management plans and monitor their effectiveness.
  • Document and communicate financial and commercial risks clearly.
  • Maintain accurate records of project financial documents, agreements and communications for audit purposes.
  • Prepare and schedule meetings, including drafting agendas, recording minutes and following up on action items.

Requirements:

  • A bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying or an equivalent commercial management qualification.
  • 3 years of practical experience ideally in the railway industry.
  • Working towards chartership with RICS/SCS/CIOB/ICES.
  • Knowledge of NEC 3 and 4 suites of contracts.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Good communication and negotiation skills.
  • Willingness to travel as per business requirements.
  • Experience with Thinkproject Contracts Management software (CEMAR).
