Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Cost Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cost consultancy, with expertise in reviewing and preparing cost estimates, providing procurement advice, and managing client accounts.

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and managing client accounts, including attending key meetings and providing strategic input. They will also review contracts and participate in contract negotiations, evaluate change orders and contractor pricing, and manage contract administration activities and support construction phase cost controls.

As a Senior Cost Manager, you will deliver continuous cost management services, including value engineering and cash flow forecasting. You will prepare and review project plans, fee proposals, and internal resourcing plans, and support senior management with client reporting, performance tracking, and commercial input.

In addition, you will mentor and develop junior cost consultants and commercial managers within the team, and represent the company at industry events, focusing on business development and network building.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying, Cost Management, Construction, Engineering, or a related field
  • 5 years of experience in cost consultancy or quantity surveying, ideally in a professional services environment
  • MRICS, AssocRICS, or equivalent chartered status (or working towards)
  • Strong knowledge of construction technology, local procurement and tendering practices, and Irish standard forms of contract (RIAI, GCCC)
  • Understanding of construction law, tax implications, insurance, and delivery methodologies in the Irish market
  • Excellent commercial awareness and experience delivering projects across a range of sectors
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build strong client relationships
  • Confidence in managing multiple priorities and delivering under pressure in a dynamic work environment
