Job Description:

  • We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our team as a Yard & Store Operative. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day activities in our yard and store.

Responsibilities:

  • To oversee all yard and store operations, ensuring that they are conducted efficiently and effectively.
  • Customer Service: Provide exceptional customer service by working closely with colleagues to ensure that all customers receive prompt and courteous attention.
  • Stock Management: Monitor stock levels on a daily and weekly basis, identifying opportunities for improvement and taking proactive steps to address any issues.
  • Security: Ensure the security of stock, keys, and documentation at all times, adhering to company procedures and policies.
  • Outward Deliveries: Work collaboratively with the yard and stores teams to ensure that goods for delivery are accurately assembled, clearly marked, and ready for departure in advance of scheduled times.
  • Inward Suppliers Deliveries: Verify the accuracy of supplier deliveries, checking thoroughly against paperwork and inspecting goods for saleability and condition. Ensure delivered products are stocked safely and efficiently without delay, reporting any discrepancies immediately to Goods In staff or Buyers.
  • Health & Safety: Maintain high standards of housekeeping, keeping aisles clear of clutter and ensuring stock is stacked safely on racks. Promptly bale and recycle packaging and strapping materials.
  • Working with Supervisors: Report any challenges or pressures faced by systems to your supervisor, providing input into addressing issues as they arise.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in a similar role or relevant industry.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Basic knowledge of health and safety procedures.
  • Ability to lift and move stock as required.
