Job Overview

Your new role involves working on behalf of a public sector organisation in an initial contract assignment due to public sector headcount restrictions. This is a common arrangement within the public or semi-state body.

The job offers the opportunity for further duration extensions or permanency, making it a valuable career path.

This position is based in Trim, Co Meath and requires a 40-hour-per-week commitment.

The Region is responsible for the direct maintenance of 10 Arterial Drainage Schemes and 4 Flood Relief Schemes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Drainage Maintenance: silt and vegetation management, aquatic vegetation cutting, bush trimming/cutting and tree trimming/cutting.
  • Embankment Maintenance: mowing, mulching, bush trimming/cutting, tree trimming/cutting and strengthening work.
  • Structure Maintenance: bridge maintenance/replacement, sluice maintenance/replacement and bank protection works.

Additional responsibilities include:

Safety Officer Roles
  • Familiarisation with relevant Health and Safety Legislation affecting construction work.
  • Hazard identification and risk assessment on site.
  • Advising supervisors on control measures and systems of work to minimise risk.
  • Communicating Health and Safety requirements to managers, supervisors and workers on site.
  • Recommendations on Health and Safety and requesting changes to practices on site.
Requirements
  • A Level 7 Qualification (National Framework of Qualifications) in Occupational Health and Safety is essential.
  • No less than 3 years of satisfactory experience in construction work and knowledge of construction methods, site management and design process.
  • Current Safe Pass Card and valid driving licence.
  • Computer literacy and necessary IT skills.
  • Possession of high interpersonal and communication skills.
