Job Summary:

Fisheries Officer Role

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Fisheries Officer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing and enforcing the provisions of various laws and regulations related to inland fisheries and sea angling resources.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Patrol lakes, rivers, and coastlines to detect and prevent illegal fishing activities.
  • Inspect commercial Salmon and Sea Trout licence holders, recreational anglers, and issue fixed penalty notices as required.
  • Apprehend offenders, gather evidence, and provide reports for legal proceedings.
  • Conduct research survey work and monitor scientific data to inform conservation efforts.
  • Assist with habitat improvement schemes, including improving fisheries access and infrastructure.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Leaving Certificate (Level 5 NFQ) or recognized equivalent.
  • A full Category B driving licence that is valid in Ireland.
  • Experience working on boats or in an environmental role.
  • Fluent English – both in spoken and written English.
  • Good knowledge of computer skills, including MS Office.
