Overview

Job Description

We are seeking a talented and motivated Automation Co-Op Student to join our team. As an integral member of our automation team, you will be responsible for designing and developing next-generation technologies and automated systems for our Joint Replacement business.

This role involves working on a wide range of technical tasks, including system design, evaluation, and testing. You will collaborate with vendors and perform hands-on testing to verify the performance of new automated processes.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Contribute to designing systems and evaluating their performance through systematic testing.
  • Execute Proof of Principles (POP's) with vendors and perform hands-on testing to verify performance.
  • Generate validation documentation and assist in detailed design reviews.

You will work closely with the automation team to ensure project success and contribute to the development of innovative system designs. This is an excellent opportunity to learn and grow with our company while making a meaningful impact on our products and services.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Fundamental knowledge of automated systems, robotics, vision systems, and PLCs.
  • Experience in executing complex problem-solving techniques related to manufacturing/design technical issues.
  • Good instincts and sound judgement for mechanical and structural design.
  • Good understanding of Design for Manufacturing (DFM), related statistical tools, and validation/verification techniques.
