Visual Effects Director Role

Larian Studios is seeking a seasoned Visual Effects Director to lead our VFX team and contribute to the creation of high-quality, immersive game experiences.

The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in VFX leadership, a keen eye for detail, and excellent communication skills. They will be responsible for developing and implementing VFX strategies that align with project goals, managing a team of skilled artists, and ensuring seamless integration with other departments.

About the Role:
  • Develop and implement VFX strategies that align with project goals and deliverables.
  • Lead and manage a team of VFX artists, providing guidance, feedback, and support to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including art, design, animation, and production, to ensure cohesive and engaging gameplay experiences.
  • Mentor and develop staff, fostering a culture of innovation, creativity, and continuous improvement.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in VFX, applying this knowledge to drive forward-thinking solutions.
Requirements:
  • Proven track record of success as a VFX Director or similar role in the game industry.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with experience in team building, talent development, and conflict resolution.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders, including artists, designers, and producers.
  • Deep understanding of VFX techniques, tools, and workflows, including particle effects, modeling, textures, shaders, Houdini, Maya, Substance Designer, UE4, and Unity.
  • Ability to think critically, solve complex problems, and make informed decisions under pressure.
