Job Opportunity: Library Support Role

About the Role

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to join our library team as a Library Assistant. The successful candidate will provide exceptional support to our users, ensuring they have an optimal experience when interacting with our library resources.

Main Responsibilities
  • User Support: Deliver timely and friendly assistance to library users in person and via email, addressing their queries and concerns efficiently.
  • Library Operations: Operate the library IT system, managing loans, returns, renewals, and reservations while maintaining accurate records.
  • Resource Assistance: Aid users in locating various types of resources, including print and digital materials.
  • Technical Support: Troubleshoot computer-related issues and assist with printing needs.
  • Journal Alerts: Send out journal alert emails to keep users informed about new publications.
  • Publishing Support: Assist in creating and managing DDUH Research publication records.
  • Collection Management: Maintain shelving, repair, and sort library materials, ensuring they remain organized and easily accessible.
  • User Supervision: Oversee user activities within the library, promoting a positive and respectful environment.
  • Team Communication: Collaborate with the library team to address any issues that may arise.

The ideal candidate will possess excellent customer service skills, a strong understanding of IT systems, and a passion for working in a library setting. We offer a dynamic and supportive work environment that encourages professional growth and development.

Requirements and Qualifications
  • A bachelor's degree or higher from a recognized institution.
  • Minimum one year of experience in a front-line customer service role.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and internet use.
  • An interest in pursuing a career in Library and Information Services.
