Food Safety Specialist Role

We are seeking an experienced Food Safety Specialist to join our team in a key role that contributes to the success and compliance of our production operations. As a Food Safety Specialist, you will be responsible for implementing food safety policies, procedures, and training across the site.

This is a dynamic role that requires strong leadership skills, as well as expertise in microbiological principles, HACCP, sanitation principles, and food safety preventive controls (FSPC). The successful candidate will have experience in addressing environmental sanitation challenges, including drains, floors, walls, roofs, and equipment.

About the Job
  • Job Description: Implement food safety policies, procedures, and training across the site.
  • Main Responsibilities:
    • Drive and implement holistic plant sanitation programs, policies, and procedures for plant, warehouse, and plant grounds.
    • Act as sanitation support in assessing and mitigating safety risk associated with construction and major maintenance.
    • Evaluate facility sanitary conditions, assess risk based on food safety and public health principles, prioritize corrective actions, and verify sanitation activities and validation testing.
    • Collaborate/coordinate with Facility Supervisor, Operations Leadership, Operations Associates, and Site Cleaning staff to achieve desired Environmental Monitoring performance and Pest Control performance.
    • Evaluate monthly environmental samples for monitoring of pathogenic organisms in plant, trend the results, and develop corrective actions.
    • Conform to master cleaning schedule and applicable cGMP guidelines, best practices, and requirements.
  • Certification/Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's degree in Plant Quality/Food Safety/Sanitation with minimum 3 years' experience in a similar role.
    • Certification as a Sanitarian and Pesticide Application is an advantage.
  • Key Skills:
    • Understanding and application of microbiological principles with in-depth food-borne pathogen knowledge.
    • Knowledge of HACCP, sanitation principles, and Food Safety Preventive Controls (FSPC).
    • Understanding of appropriate wet cleaning and dry cleaning methodology.
    • Experience in successfully addressing environmental sanitation challenges.
    • Proven leadership capabilities.
    • Project planning & execution experiences.
    • Process control knowledge.
    • Proven plant financial understanding.
    • Experience with working on Continuous Improvement Projects.
    • Experience with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
