The Position

The transaction services team is part of the wider Deals team, incorporating transaction services and corporate finance. Deals sits within the Financial Advisory division which also includes a range of client services including insolvency, debt restructuring, valuations and independent business reviews.

The successful candidate will primarily be involved in transaction services work, including buy-side and sell-side due diligence reviews and related services. Through this work we assist our clients to run streamlined transaction processes and to maximise value either through acquisition or on the sale of their business. Mazars has built up a strong reputation in this area, with an expanding and diverse client base. An increasing portion of assignments are international in nature owing to strong relationships across the global Mazars network. Our clients and business referrers typically include private equity houses, alternative/direct lenders, corporate finance firms, banks and private trading businesses. In terms of size, the subject businesses for recent sell-side due diligence assignments have ranged from revenue of c.€20m - €100+m and EBITDA of c.€5m - €20m, and for buy-side spans all deal sizes.

The successful candidate will be part of an expanding team and report directly to the Partner with responsibility for Transaction Services.

Key Responsibilities

Assisting in the delivery of high-quality transaction services assignments Interacting directly with clients and targets in the delivery of projects Creating and delivering written reports and presentations Collaborating effectively with colleagues in a team environment Working to agreed timelines and within budgets on projects Forming an integral part of the team’s overall client service ethos

Ideal Candidate

Recently qualified accountant with experience in a medium/large practice environment Strong interest in pursuing a career in a transaction-based environment is desirable Broad range of experience working with businesses across key business sectors Ability to undertake analysis of the financial performance and financial position of a business, highlighting the key risks and issues Experience in robustly challenging financial and non-financial aspects of businesses Ability to undertake sector-based research and form a view as to risks and opportunities for a business operating in the sector Preparation and interrogation of financial models including integrated profit and loss, balance sheet and cashflow projections Excellent written and spoken English language skills Self-confident individual with strong interpersonal and communications skills Excellent organisational and planning capabilities
