This is what you will do:

The Finance Business partner- Supply Chain will be a member of the Ireland Finance Team within Alexion's Global Operations and Supply Chain hub, based in Dublin, Ireland. This role reports to the Senior Director, Global Operations Finance. The Finance Business partner- Supply Chain will have a key role in partnering with the Global Supply Chain organisation to provide financial planning and analysis with a focus on inventory forecasting, strategic sourcing as well as Opex / Headcount.

The Global Supply Chain organisation has an annual spend of approx. $60M. Inventory values are more than $1.0Bln

This individual will need to be a quick learner, with excellent analytical skills. She/he will be able to work independently and as part of a team, in a very dynamic environment with the ability to both implement and continuously improve processes.

The Finance Business partner - Supply Chain role will provide end to end finance business partnering for global Supply Chain.

You will be responsible for:

The specific roles and responsibilities of the Finance Business partner - Supply Chain include the following:

Inventory/Forecasting

  • Partner with Supply Chain to improve inventory forecasting, streamlining the information source for both Supply Chain and Finance, whilst managing reporting internally to Alexion/Astra Zeneca.
  • Scenario planning on inventory forecasting, reflecting changing Demand & Supply Scenarios
  • Collaborate with Inventory planning team re inventory holding policies/MOH decisions etc.
  • Work with the Finance & Supply Chain teams to prepare Inventory forecasts by quarter for current year and MTP and by year for LTP
  • Explain monthly, quarterly, yearly, and mid-term Inventory variances v's previous outlooks/commitments, calling out change drivers.
  • Support and drive initiatives to get Inventory to optimal levels.
  • Partner with the Dublin accounting team to understand, explain, and articulate Inventory Reserves & provisions
  • Prepare Cash forecasts based on inventory for Global Operations and represent Alexion Operations in cashflow engagements with Astra Zeneca.
  • Support efforts to optimimise Raw Material holding. Understand root causes for obsolescence and hold teams accountable for improvements.
  • Review appropriateness of what is assessed to Inventory and make recommendations of potential improvements.

Business Support, Planning and Analysis

  • Partner with Global Supply Chain & Strategic sourcing in preparation of their forecast & budget (Opex, Capital, Headcount) with a view to being able to justify & explain the plans:
    • Work with the Leadership team to understand the key drivers of the business
    • Produce Departmental and consolidated reports for discussion at leadership meetings
    • Drive compliance with financial processes at a business level
    • Be part of Supply Chain leadership teams; present the financial results at leadership meetings
    • Deliver training on financial management as appropriate
  • Monthly results
    • Variance analysis (Actual vs Budget vs Forecast)
    • Produce results at a Gross / Net / Departmental basis
    • Present financial results to the Supply Chain leadership team
    • Preparation & Presentation of Metrics
  • Drive cost awareness among the organisation
  • Approval & Control of costs in accordance with Alexion Policies
  • Determine assessments of costs to Inventory or Net P&L based on business drivers
  • Development of standardised templates for use in budget and strategic Planning Process

Headcount Planning

  • Work with HR and business partners, utilizing Success Factors & Anaplan, to govern Supply Chain& strategic sourcing headcount and streamline headcount management & reporting

Other areas

  • Continually seek to improve processes & systems
  • Represent finance in Supply Chain / Global Operations Continuous Improvement projects
  • Cross training in other functional areas in FP&A
  • Ad hoc requests as required

You will need to have:

  • >5years operations experience preferably in the Biopharmaceutical industry
  • Qualified accountant (CIMA/ACCA/ACA/CPA)
  • Experience in US multinational
  • Solid understanding of Inventory
  • Knowledge of SAP
  • Financial modelling skills a strong plus
  • Process driven - Experience in process improvement/lean/Six Sigma initiatives desirable
  • Computer skills - Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint essential

We would prefer for you to have:

  • MBA
  • Anaplan experience
  • In depth understanding on the composition of Inventory Management (including Raw Materials, Resins, Bulk drug substance, work-in progress, & Drug product & Finished goods
  • Drive to hold those accountable for commitments
  • Curiosity to better understand drivers and actions needed to demonstrate continuous improvement
  • Storytelling to be able to articulate issues and solutions in an engaging way.
