Learning & Development Manager - Retail

As a Learning and Development Specialist, you will be responsible for designing and delivering training programs to colleagues across all levels in our stores. Your role involves collaborating with Area and Store Managers, as well as management teams, to enhance the overall store operations. Key aspects of your work include fostering a positive learning culture, understanding the current and future capability needs of retail colleagues, and promoting ongoing professional development. Ultimately, your focus is on empowering colleagues' growth and ensuring exceptional customer experiences.

What You'll Do:
In your role, you'll collaborate with different people across a range of skillsets. Here's a flavour of your day-to-day:
  • Collaborate with the Team: You will work closely with the wider People & Culture (P&C) team and other retail functions to deliver exceptional learning experiences to all retail colleagues. Your role involves ensuring effective training and development opportunities.
  • Promote Continuous Professional Development: You will foster a culture of continuous professional development within the organization. Encourage employees to enhance their skills, knowledge, and competencies through ongoing learning initiatives.
  • Champion a Coaching Culture: You will play a key role in creating a coaching culture. This means promoting coaching as a valuable tool for employee growth, performance improvement, and skill development.
  • Source and Design Learning Solutions: You will identify, develop, and source solutions to address learning needs. Utilize both internal and external providers, managing the end-to-end process. Additionally, you'll contribute to designing global learning solutions and locally tailored blended learning programs.
  • Apply Adult Learning Theories: You will apply adult learning theories to ensure that employees get the most out of their development experiences. Tailor learning interventions to suit the unique needs of adult learners.
  • Manage Training Budgets and Digital Learning: You will manage training budgets, ensuring a cost-conscious approach to learning and development. Additionally, you'll leverage digital tools to create flexible and innovative learning programs.
  • Evaluate Learning Effectiveness: You will monitor how effectively learning has been transferred to colleagues at all levels, making data-driven decisions to enhance learning outcomes.
  • Stay Informed and Collaborate Globally: You'll keep up to date with business developments, changes, and retail priorities. Collaborate with the Global Retail L&D network to plan and progress future projects, representing the voice of ROI in these meetings.
What You'll Bring

  • You should have at least 2 years of experience working in an L&D role or handling L&D content within a broader position.
  • You will have experience in designing and delivering blended L&D interventions in a fast-paced, multi-site organization.
  • You have a creative and innovative approach to training.
  • You bring strong facilitation and coaching abilities.
  • You have excellent knowledge of digital content programs such as Articulate 360 (including Rise, Storyline 360, and Review). Familiarity with tools like Canva, MySimpleShow, or Vyond is desired but not essential.
  • You can communicate effectively and build relationships at all levels within the organization.
