
Housing Officer

The role of the Housing Officer will be to promote and participate in resident involvement activities by ensuring active and proactive work on tenant engagement and participation, and on community initiatives. The office is full-time, permanent, and pensionable. A panel will be formed to fill permanent and temporary vacancies. Persons employed will be required to work in any location within the South Dublin administrative area.
The duties will be assigned by the local authority and will include deputising for other officers when required. Duties may also involve responsibilities related to other local authorities. Key responsibilities include:
- Developing and delivering Estate Management / Tenant Participation Strategies and Neighbourhood Plans with key performance outcomes.
- Ensuring tenancy lettings and terminations comply with administrative and legal requirements, including signing up and ending tenancies.
- Managing tenancy issues such as joint tenancies and succession applications.
- Providing advice and support to older tenants requiring medical adaptations and assisting tenants moving under the Council's Rightsizing Policy.
- Supporting the Housing Maintenance team by reporting and monitoring repairs in communal areas.
- Assisting the Voids Team to achieve turnaround targets through pre-void inspections.
- Engaging tenants about estate and landlord services, including communal areas and public realm activities.
- Working with residents to prevent anti-social behaviour and managing low-level tenancy enforcement issues.
- Referring serious anti-social behaviour cases to the Community Safety Team.
- Investigating vacant homes within the geographical area.
- Collaborating with the Community Development Team to improve local communities.
- Operating from estate offices if necessary.
- Utilising all relevant new technology and understanding all Council IT systems.
- Possessing a full, unendorsed Irish driving licence and maintaining a vehicle for work duties.
- Performing any other duties as assigned by South Dublin County Council management.
